About Emily
Emily studies at ARU Writtle, achieving her animal massage qualification in 2025 and is set to graduate with an Integrated Masters in Veterinary Physiotherapy in the summer of 2026.
Based on the Surrey/London border but with connections in Germany, Emily has nearly 10 years experience working in the animal industry and has been fascinated by the differences in approach between the two countries. As a result, her treatments aim to incorporate the ‘best-of-both-worlds’, combining the precise, research-driven German approach that specialises in lesser known individualised therapies with the broader, holistic perspective seen more in England.
Emily’s love for animals began at the age of 4, when a friend of hers had a pony riding birthday party and from that day she was hooked. Despite not yet fulfilling the dream of owning her own horse (never say never!), Emily has shared multiple lovely horses over the years that have each contributed to the passion of wanting to become a vet physio. The first of these was Bobby who was the ideal starting point, and despite suffering from mild osteoarthritis is still doing very well today and has moved on to a slower life teaching young riders with the RDA.
Bruno (pictured right) is where the real passion to help animals began. At the young age of 10 he injured a collateral ligament in his right forelimb and despite a year of veterinary intervention he unfortunately never became comfortable again. Having since researched the condition and hearing of similar case studies, I believe that with a tailored physiotherapy plan, including regular physiotherapy sessions, he may have been comfortable enough to retire in the field.
Through participating in Pony Club activities (including placing 6th at the national championships in the team horse and pony care category), taking BHS exams (up to stage 2) and volunteering at local riding schools and dog training schools, Emily has a wealth of experience handling animals of all shapes, sizes and temperaments. Her work experience at Surrey Dog School was particularly valuable in understanding how animals learn and how to work with them on their terms, which are skills she strives to maintain and incorporate into all services she provides.
Emily loves to keep learning, so there will always be new treatment ideas in the works based on webinars and courses she attends. Stay tuned to find out what will come next!
